g,day dav to the question about tail gates on fords yes they made a 1979 ford xd panel van it was the sundown instead of the sandman panelvan in the holden the reason i know the information i own a 1979 ford xd panelvan in a v8 351 5.8 litre ith a 100 gas tank and it is fire engine red with a gt shaker on the bonnet which i fittted later and i fitted 4 pippes to each side to the van like mad max with 19in mags and 16in on the front

Greetings 08, thanks for your reply. I checked out the local(Yarram) wreckers and found the shell of one just before it went into the' cruncher'; damned shame! It wasn't really well though!
Mine is an XG, 4.0,auto,air, cruise and 'spoke mags'; very mild but it suits me fine. I play the Double Bass,(giant vertical violin), and when the big machine is in the back, I can still snuggle up to it, on a single mattress.
I would love a 289 or a 302 but, as I approach 70, I figure I don't have to hurry any more. Maybe I could just make a recording to play in sync. with the gearbox and pretend.lol.
Take care and hopefully you will reach twice your current age, which is my age!

I own an Xy Van I am restoring. They came with tailgate as mine has & barn doors were an option. I believe this was the case right up to XC model.

i have an XG with an injected 5 litre and will be in the process of converting it to tailgates over the xmas break
