Nicco,

You have the factory manual?

Mate can you do me a big favour and scan the schematic of the relays and wiring to the fans please?

I forgot to copy it when I had the manual last... May be handy for future dates helping people out...

Just shows the two motors and 4 relays...

Cheers,
Tim

I started the wiring of the fan on my patrol today

The way I have done it previously gives two modes,
Mode one, one fan low speed one fan medium speed.
Mode two, both high speed

Switches nice and simple from two relays,
The 'Mode one' relay feeds power into the RED wire on the 3 pin plug,
The "mode two" relay feed power into the RED wire on the 2 pin plug.
Connect the WHITE wire from the 3 wire plug into the RED wire on the 2 pin plug.
Both black wires are permanently grounded.

To get Mode one, you simply turn on the the Mode one relay.
To get Mode two, you turn on BOTH relays.

Trigger the relays how ever you want. My way is very simple for retrofit purposes.
Most cars we did had Mode one switched on with ignition and Mode two was switch with a thermo fan switch taken from a 92 ford laser, (the temps it switched at were good and it had a thread that we could get a tap for)

In my Patrol though i've made it far more complicated.
As i said before low and high will be switched by a pair thermo fan switches that use a 3/8 tapered thread with a single blade terminal and switch to ground.
There is also be two manual overrides, the first will switch both fans off at the same time switching on a red warning light, the second will switch on high speed at the same time switching on a a greed warning light.

Switching off is for deep water crossings were the water will be above the bottom of the fans.(not uncommon to have water over the bonnet)
Forcing high speed is for pre-empting big temp rises, like pulling over 4 tonne up mountain ranges or long periods of soft sand driving which means long periods of low vehicle speed combined with high engine rpm and 10+ psi of boost.
