Hi folks.
My EL is a 4.0 dual fuel that has recently started idling erratically (hunting) when stationary, but has now developed into a rough ride even under load.
When backing off from acceleration it feels like the brake is being applied as the engine wants to hang back, then after a few seconds it's all fine until the problem repeats a few seconds later.
When slowing down at traffic lights, the trans slams down in gear (or so it sounds like the trans), but when it's running well the trans behaves normally when slowing down.
It has stalled a few times while sitting at the lights.
The problem occurs on fuel & LPG but I've mainly been using fuel.
The engine has around 180,000kms.
Spark plugs are under 12 months.
Leads are no more than 2 years.
I replaced the PCV valve (from wrecker) & new air filter.
PCV hose is fine & the plastic Christmas tree it's attached to on inlet manifold is all o.k
Sprayed throttle body cleaner in throttle body/ PCV valve/ Idle air control valve.
Replaced Idle air control valve with second hand unit that was also soaked in throttle body cleaner.
It ran great for 2 days & then went back to erratic idle & now erratic drive.
Before I take the next step with Dizzy & coil, is there a common issue with this sort of behaviour in EL?
