These tools are probably not for sale any more (although Ford dealereships may still have them in their workshops). Have you tried Bursons? I have a cheaper method.

Use a Bic biro pen and push a metal skewer though the centre of it. Push the tensioner in with the pen casing and turn the skewer anti-clockwise to release the tensioner from its compressed position. Make sure you use a skewer that has 4-6 sides.

Hey Shortshift, that sounds like the SOHC chain tensioner your describing-or is DOHC tensioner set up similar?
Anyway this is the kit I'm getting which has both the tensioner & cam lock/holding tool and comes with a harmonic balancer puller aswell. This kit is from endeavour tools however you cannot order/buy it directly from them you have to order it from either Repco or Bursons as Shortshift said.

Cheers Johnny.

File comment: The original price for this kit was about $1020 but through Repco I got it for $276.

Hey guys, just thought I'd add a pic of the tool (my version anyways) of the SOHC timing chain lock and removal tool's,the tube and Allen key works in the same way as Shortshift said.I made mine from a peice of old aerial cut down and the right size Allen key (I normally use a longer one that's in the tube now) the other tool is for removing the tensioner.

Cheers Johnny.

Thought I'd put this up-so you can see the tool in action, push down on the lever (on the side of the tensioner) whilst pushing the guide and the tensioner rod in, hold the guide in release the lever till the holes line up place the tool through the lever hole into the tensioner body which will hold the tensioner in that position to remove the cams or whatever your doing.
