Hi - Have an EF Fairmont Ghia with recent Barra conversion. Used BA expansion tank so doesn't have low coolant sensor and now have constant low coolant light flashing on dash. Did a search and got a few different ideas but have not found a fix yet.

Short of removing the dash light has anyone resolved this - tried jumping the plug with a wire and using a 220ohm resistor but no joy. I'm crap when it comes to electrics so appreciate some who can explain the fix to me like im 5.

cheers

Yes some posts said 180 and some 220 but none confirmed it worked with either. Thanks for your response, ill give 180 a try, fingers crossed.

i could be completely wrong here but looks like the coolant sensor passes through upto 2 resistors in the wiring diagram

Pic 1 switch open
current flows through both resistors

Pic 2 switch closed
Current bypasses one of the resistors

i couldn't tell you what resistor values are used or what order they are used in
Hope this helps in some way

Thanks - I tried 220 and 180 on the plug and neither worked so your take on two could be right. I also put the multimeter on it and switched to 2k ohms got not change - I'm not sure if this means the plug is not even wired up or not? hoping a brain with electrical know how can chirp in and give me a much needed clue as Im stuck.

i checked my stuck [?] EB sensor and it shows .197/180 on the 2K range. believe it's stuck on the "low".

just rechecked the sensor ....... it's .180 when full & 1.376 when empty.
