hi there i have a 10" sub in a box behind my rear seat
it is a sealed box. would i get more bass from a vented box. what differences is there between the sound of a vented box and a sealed box.?? or should i just put in the parcel tray and make it a free air sub??? thanks.......

The specifications of the box (ie size, ported, sealed, et.c) depend on the sub used, so check the manufacturers recomendations (pporbablky found in the manual).

as it is a second hand sub i dont have any specs..
i can tell you its a schneider 10" sub 400 wats. i will try and find some specs on there web site. thanks for your advice.....

Yep, also you will find that with a sealed enclosure the sound will be a lot tighter and more accurate, always a very good thing imho.
Vented is the way to go (so long as the sub suits) if you are after max spl from the sub and not as worried about the quality of the sound produced. Saying that ive heard bad sealed and good vented enclosures, but its just mainly a rule of thumb so to speak.

after searching schneiders web site .
they recommend that it should be in a sealed enclosure. so i might leave it in the sealed box. or i might get a larger sub.. as i have kenwood 7 x 10s in the parcel shelf and they pump out more bass then the sub does. what frequency should the bass filter be on. its currently set on 60 htz with about 80 % gain any help would be appreciated ... thanks again.....

Try a larger amplifier running the sub woofer.
