I have heard the same thing, but Ford were not going to develop an engine, rather than just buy a turbo deisel from someone else. A 3L TD out of a hilux would fang along!

APPARENTLY Ford have an alliance with a few european companies, (Peugeot and FIAT I think??) and they have developed a TD engine that would fit very well in the Territory's position.

When asked by Wheels/Motor Tom Gorman, said that if the research panned out, the first position it would probably go into would be the Falcon Ute/RTV and then Territory, then maybe Falcon. It was still just speculation though. I'll re-check the November WHEELS and let you know.

ford america and PSA (peugeot/citroen etc)
develop and awesome 2.7 v6 turbo diesel
which makes some ridiculous torque level
i reckon thats the only one they could use

hell would freeze over before they bought an engine from toyota
you gotta remember also that the territory weighs heaps more than a hilux ute

Bit of a late reply, but anyway...I had heard they were thinking of using a 2.7L diesel from a Landrover I think. The engine was def coming from one of the PAG (premier auto group) under Ford's ownership.

Prob surface in the Territory if anything and maybe in the utes/falc's if things go well enough. Don't know too many ppl that'd buy a diesel falcon tho.

I would have to agree with kday, I wouldn't piss on a Toyota diesel 4 cylinder, 5000km maximum oil changes or the engine ends up s**t itself, if anything I would recommend earlier oil changes.
