Ive just noticed these labels hidden on different panels of my car..

I dont have a camera to take any pics of em at the moment, but they have a barcode and the chassis/engine number on them.. They are in places like on the inside of both fenders (under the bonnet), under all 4 doors, on the rear quarter panels, on the boot, bonnet, etc...

What are they?

The microdots all over your car are there to stop the chop shops destroying your car for parts - as each hanging panel has a record of where it came from. Unfortunately - you can strip the panel and repaint it without the microdot and no-one would know.

Ahh i see!
Thats good to know!

Hey thats got me thinking, my mates got the exact same car as mine, except that its an el xr6, not an 8, but he doesnt have those stickers on this car at all!

Does that mean that his car has been re-sprayed or been smashed?

What do they mean exactly?
And like i asked b4 about my m8s car, does it mean that hes has been resprayed or smashed? Or would any panel beater be able be able to reorder them or take them off and put them off later?

Cheers.

The XR's and higher spec cars all had the microdots as far as I know - the 2 ED XR6's and all my cars have them.

They are just chassis number stickers. I have them on my cars. Just a way to see original panels.

Ford stopped doing them, with the ED (or maybe EF I think). Sometimes 1 panel had a different number to the rest, and new car owners whinged about it.

They are not microdots, they peel off easily.

If you have microdots, you wont see them... cos they are "micro"... Plus - they are usually painted on to an area that isnt that visable (like backs of wheels, under guards, etc etc)
