My ELXR8 Auto seems to make a whining noise at the top end of fist and second gear just before the change. Its bloody annoying. Anyone know what this might be? Any input appreciated.

Sounds like maybe the belts or something? Not a transmission problem I dont think - I had it looked at and transmission guy said that the transmission was fine...

Not too sure on this but i think most Ford auto transmissions make a whine noise.

May be idler pulleys, i know mine make a hell of a racket.

Take the serp belt of and check the top idler, bottom left idler and pulley on belt tensioner for wear/play. Ideally they should be smooth as silk but not likely... lol, i recently blew the pulley on the tensioner apart due to bearing failure.
