How often should the brake fluid be changed and what sorta fluid do you guys recommend for fords?

Once a year as azza said. And use a DOT 4 fluid. Shell, Castrol, Mobil, the choice is yours.

If you are going to change the fluid, I would recommend getting something to remove as much of the old fluid and dust particles from both sides of your reservior as possible before you put the new fluid in. No use in mixing your new fluid with the old stuff. Then bleed until all you are getting is new fluid.

every year?? I dont think mine has been changed in 4 years!! no wonder my pedal is getting spongy :roll:

at least once a year - reason why brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air resulting in spongy pedal...

good i dear to bleed the abs to if u have it, not sure how u do it on a falcon though.

On the EB-ED (not sure if EA ever had ABS) you need to bleed the ABS unit if fitted first, then the brake calipers.

On EF/EL can only (and only need to) bleed the cailpers because of the design of the ABS unit.

cheers man, ill do that next time,

when you refill it ya just do it from the brake mastercylinder?

and pump it through.. not sure of the best way, to stop getting air in it.

mine pulls right really slightly from like 120 braked hard, (only the first time- then the second time its even), dya reckon this could be the brake lines, cos i checked the sliders on both fronts and cleaned them up.

Yup, keep topping up and make sure it doesn't suck air in otherwise you have to start all over again.. Just make sure you close the nipple half way through the last pump so air doesn't get in.

What does it mean if you have long brake pedal travel?
Mine used to go long way down and pull up heaps good without much pressure on the pedal needed..
Now with everything replaced in my braking system the pedal is a lot firmer and it takes more force to pull it up as before, also no matter how hard i brake NO abs kicks in lol - are my rotors/pads still bedding in and would the brake fluid flush and change make my pedal more firm?
Im happy with my brakes none the less, just feels totally different to it used to..

Replacing anything in the brake system will make the brakes feel different.

Your pedal is a lot firmer cause you now have decent fluid in it, no air or water (which are more compressable than brake fluid), and until the pads bed in they will not work at 100% efficiency. So they will not "grab" enough to make the ABS work.

I found when I replaced all the brake system in my car it was TOTALLY different.
