i just rebuilt the engine in my dads EB.

the head gasket went in a big way. and having 260 000km on it, we thought we would rebuild the thing.

on the strip down we found the head gasket h was leaking oil from the feed to the head, that was the reason the lifters were noisy.

we also found the pistons showed no signs of wear at all, and all bores were perfectly round and not tappered at all.
so we reused the old pistons and the bores got a 2thou hone to give the rings some thing to bed into.

the crank got a linnish and standard bearing were used all round.

the head needed some welding and new exhaust valve guides. 20thou shave to get flat.

we used my spare EF XR6 camshaft and left the rest as per factory EB gli

all up with machine work and parts we spent about $1600 on it.
the engine has now done 500km so it got it first real drive to day. and it realy go very well .

next i just need to talk dad into some exrtractors
