And that, if I am not mistaken, is not an original part as supplied from factory? One of the mechanics who had a go at the current EF timebomb of mine replaced the original with a bit of fuel hose or similar and I've since swapped it back to original. Reason for replacing it in the first place was it had a crack where yours was and someone had put a larger hose around it to seal it, and that seal had started to leak after some a*** spray painters had been climbing through the engine bay.
"Hey - why is my car smoking and hardly idling after you guys took the bonnet off?" "Nah mate, you're full of s**t mate... It was running like that when you gave it to us..." Don't they run crap with a leak huh? I've since learnt this is a way to tell if your mechanic knows his Fords or not. Put the old hose back on and see if the mechanic can "fix" your car whilst you wait for $20 or less. Pity I can't afford mechanics, as the guy just down the road had a bit of hose in his hand when he greeted me after spluttering up to his workshop a year ago. Opened the bonnet, cut the hose, put it on, and gave him $10. Fixed! And without so much as having to turn the motor off. A real shame this outfit charges $80 an hour and is quite busy. Guys who know their 90's Fords real well seem to be rare finds... * Was it running like this on the Dyno day? I thought those figures of yours were a bit low *

knew it had to be MAP related...
pfft....TPS a simple trouble code readout would have likely shown that and under full load the map sees atmosperic and cracked hose wont affect it, so full power wont change....it would just be under part throttle that problem shows itself

Gidday All
In my wanderings around the local Pick N Payless I noticed that there are some subtle differences in the late ED/NC models compared to the earlier boxcars. Today we will focus on the Door Catch and the associated bolts on the latch. Early cars have gold/bronze anodised/plated catches and bolts. While this looks good against a lot of cars, against a black car, these items stand out, drawing the eye away from the bits you have spent your hard earned $$$$ and time on. On the ED/NC however these items are black in colour. The other difference is a plate that has been added to the rear doors around the latch. I am assuming this was to assist with anti-theft measures, but would be interested to hear from anyone who actually knows. The original Door Catch.   The Black Door Catch   The left rear door with original bolts  The right rear door with the black bolts and additional plate. I painted the plate Matt Black as it was a bit untidy.  This is a simple modification to do, and if you pick your parts carefully the door catches will be much less worn, reducing possible rattle etc. Cheers BenJ

The plate in the back doors looks like it has more to do with strengthening than anything else to me. But then again I have just had a look at my ED and like you said there is none in the front doors, but at a glance I dont see why the extra set of back door plates would not fit in the front doors aswell for added strength. The hole configeration looks to be the same but would have to line one up with the front door latch to see.

that's very interesting.
The EF,EL don't have this plate from the ED. I don't remember seeing it on my ED wagon although I didn't pay much attention to the back door locks.

Yeah man, the ED would have had them, but the EF didn't. Maybe the extra metal in the EF rear door meant side impacts were better dealt with or some rubbish?

Bit of a text update this time.
BA Headlight Mod. I installed the correct H7 High Beam Globes in to the BA Reflector and the light emitted is now much better. Driving at night out on the open road is much easier when you can see what is up ahead. LPG Economy. After fixing the Vac leak, the economy on LPG has now improved. I was getting around the 370kay mark from a tank of LPG, and last tank I got 425kays. So quite happy with that result. Tyres. I noticed that the rear tyres on the alloy rims were a tad beyond there wet weather use by date, so I had two of the tyres on the black rims swapped over. Nice and legal now. I am running a Fordmods Cruise here in Sydney tomorrow, so that will be fun. Will put up a couple of pics afterwards. Hope you are all well. BenJ
