BBM is in.
And I have to say, what a difference. The mid range urge is huge, and the throttle responsiveness is just awesome. I am a very happy chappy. Some pics. Log Manifold removed.  BBM in and running.   The fun part was undoing the extractors so I could change the metal heater pipe over. I also used some new heater hoses under the manifold. For those wanting to do a BBM conversion here is a list of parts needed.
New intake manifold gasket EF/EL Fuel Rail and Injectors and Fuel Regulator with as much of the Fuel hose attached as you can get The metal heater pipe that goes from the back of the water pump, under the exhaust manifold, around the back of the engine and under the back of the BBM The metal heater pipe from the lower thermostat housing EF/EL heater pipes as they ARE different EL ECU EF/EL BBM Switching Solenoid and associated Vacuum pipes and fittings EF/EL intake filter box and pipes EF/EL throttle pedal and cable - the pedal has a different ratio than the EA-ED one Log manifold wiring harness modified to suit the BBM shape and EF/EL TPS and ICS The engine is now exactly like it was in my old Red EB Sedan. I have a few things up my sleve for the engine so will let you know as things happen. The LPG Convertor and Mixer have yet to find new homes as part of the BBM conversion. I hope to have a play with that tomorrow - well today now lol. The difference between this setup and the log is like chalk and cheese. A very worthwhile mod. Cheers BenJ

Now that you've fed and housed Snap a few times, I hope you realise that if he get's out his run or slips off his owners leash he'll be bowling right up your driveway looking for a half decent meal, a scratch behind the ears and a few box cars to operate on. Could be worse. |

Got a bit sorted out today.
Snap, LP and Myself went to Pick N Payless to scavenge about for LPG bits and pieces, and scored quite nicely. Found an NA with an old IMPCO setup on it, that had a nice piece of flexible supply line. This proved to be exactly the right length to reach from the end of the existing copper tank supply line to the new location of the convertor on the right hand strut tower. I have rerouted the existing copper supply line from over the left hand strut tower, so it now goes behind the head and finishes just shy of the brake booster. We also grabbed a couple of EF rocker cover bolts that have the risers on them. This is to mount the bracket holding the mixer in position. Also acquired, were an EA intake pipe, assorted brass LPG fittings, lock off valves, and flow control valves. Nice little haul really. So after getting home, downing some great Pizza, saying farewell to Snap, I got around to mocking up the LPG gear and ducting. This was a proof of concept excersize. It should work well.     In the long run I will be using some more of the bling piping over the rocker cover, but in the mean time the rubber piping will do the job. I also have to route the heater hoses, but have that planned. Hey Dazzle, there appears to be plenty of room for the bypass. On another note check this out.   SWC has been busy again. looking good ben,, but isn't it risky having the mixer etc "ontop" of the extractors?

BenJ oh ok then I assumed as most extractors throw out some heat would be a hazzard but if it is tried and tested  all good. that front bar will look sick.

Doh, I was talking about the convertor. The mixer sits a bit lower than the convertor, so has plenty of clearance. BenJ

The converter to mixer gas hose is very short in this setup - around 5".
This should improve the response we hope, along with the 50 CFM better air flow with the 225 mixer over the 200 (which is normally used in the gas BBM setups). Normally the hose runs from LHS to RHS of the car in an Impco 200 mixer setup.

Done.
The LPG is now operational. Oh, and had to add some bling to make it functional.     Seems to drive ok. Have only been up the road and back, so will give more feedback late. Cheers BenJ

that looks like a pretty good set up there ben...
the only thing i would have a little concern about is the heat from the extractors effecting the convertor to mixer hose and the rubber flex hose? otherwise i think you should get better results than the previous set up..

I am yet to look at a heat shield of some sort. That will be next on the list. Froudey I would actually say it is 'sitting' on the BBM. I am considering some sort of bracket to lift it a little, using the EL intake bolt holes. The intake setup is only temporary until I get together with Da22le, and we design a 'Petrol Bypass' setup. Oh, and the other bit I forgot, was the Crankcase Ventilation. I have just got back from Bunnings with a couple of barbs to work out a solution. Cheers BenJ
