My shorty patrol body :free off a mateImage
My maverick parts car :400
Image
Plans are diffs, box, interior, doors, wiring loom, few other odds and ends will be moved over to my shorty body. I have a better motor to drop in from my mates swb patrol because he has a reco motor to drop in his. Unfortunately the mav is auto but for the price im not complaining. Already swapped some bits for a 3 or 5 inch lift from a mate. Ive decided on 3 inch as swb cars like to exit hills on their side lol

Nice score mate. I think you said your putting a 4.2 td in it?
5 speed boxes can be found cheap some times too ( $250 or so), seems there is allot of Patrol/Mav parts on ebay up your way, pisses me off because its too far a drive lol.
What size tyres you going? Ive got 15" deep dish sunraysia's on 31x10.5's and it sits alright. Ive heard 33's are the way to go. If you go 31's I found a bloke on ebay selling Khumo 31 AT's for $170 each or just under $600 for a set of 4.
Lucky bastard with your fancy suspension lol. The Mq has leaf coils front and rear.

Ok so Wednesday if the weathers good we will be dropping the diffs and transmission out of the maverick lwb. Then the diffs will be rolled under the shorty. The engine from my mates patrol needs a freshen up before it goes into mine. We aren't sure if the valve stem seals are gone or the rings. Looks like im just buying a set of rings and bearings and giving it a hone. Then droping the head off the mav to see if its ok. As for the auto it looks like im getting the 5spd off my mate cheap and hes buying another for his.

What engine you putting in? Not a 4.2 carby petrol ?
I had one in my GQ . Was the worst on fuel . Points started playing up halfway down to the snowy mountains so it back fired and went very slow . Cost about $600 in fuel , then the water pump blew cooked the motor . Now dropping in a td42 .

My thoughts were the 4.2 petty was s**t but I keep being told they are good :/
I could probably scratch up an rb30 conversion and a turbo from somewhere but couldnt drive it for 8 months.
You can change the dizzy to electronic iginition.

They are an ok motor , mine got me up some steep hill climbs . Never bogged down anywhere .
But they use so much fuel . I just hated the carby , was s**t to start , back fired .
My mate has the Injected version it was so much Better, a lot easier to start .

Ah ok. My mate has a spare barra motor. But I figured thatd take too much f**k around for wiring and rego. But unsure if there's a kit to fit the 4.0 to a patrol lol

Not sure about a kit , you'd need a custom bell housing or something .

the diesels are hard to come by and expensive to buy plus the parts when they break. this will be put on the road with everything ive got for less than 2k. then ill worry about the other stuff if any problems arise. ill just be happy to have a fourby. its my first ever lol
