Ahhhh wicked!

Yeah Mirko is coming, trying to get a couple of others but Emma will be overseas in a jungle in Borneo and Vickie is at work so they are lame and won't be there.

I got mine cut and polished at one of those Magic Hand Wash places last week, it came up so good! Mind you it's filthy again now but I'll wash it before Sunday.

Aha I think I saw a pic of that VP on your Facebook. Maybe we'll be able to convince him that our Fords are way better ;) haha

Little bit of an update..
Nothing much has happened to the EF lately, I'm still waiting on some springs so I can get the damn thing lowered.
A few small things, clear side repeaters (thanks to teeroy), blue trip computer, that's about it. Today I replaced my second brake light switch in less than 12 months, but otherwise it's still treating me very well.

I did, however, buy an NF Fairlane today.
A fairly unintelligent impulse buy I'll admit...
It has 282,000km on it, the engine runs well but the transmission is a bit spastic.. a trans service is definitely on the cards.

Before I picked it up I had plans to get it on the road ASAP and keep it as a project/weekend car sorta thing, but after driving it home on a permit I've decided maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew

It drives okay but I can't help but feel I'd just end up throwing way too much money at it.
What I want to do now is give it a good clean up, a service, and try a few things I haven't done before e.g. the rocker cover gasket needs replacing, the brakes need doing etc. I realise that isn't awfully difficult but I've not done much other than basic servicing so it's all new to me.
Once it's cleaned up and running a little nicer I'm hoping to sell it again.

It does look nice, and for the price I paid it's not so bad, but the photos make it look a lot cleaner than it is in the flesh, it was sitting for a couple of months before I picked it up.

Am I being realistic in thinking I'll be able to sell it for, say, $1500?

THE NF: (in case anybody cares... if not, too bad)

It's a 1995 NF II Fairlane Ghia in Argon Silver. 6 cyl, apparently with an LSD, CSA wheels of some sort, slightly lowered and an exhaust. I don't really know much else about it given I only got it today, and the guy I bought it off only had it for 6 months and hasn't done anything to it.

I picked it up in South Morang this afternoon and took it back to Cheltenham where it will stay for awhile, until it gets a bath and a service and probably new brakes. I took a friend with me, she followed me back in the EF. The guy I bought it from said he hadn't driven it in a few months, but it started straight up and ran pretty well. The transmission hesitates before it actually goes into Drive, and it struggles with knowing when to shift sometimes...low fluid perhaps?
The steering wheel is off centre but it doesn't wander, and doesn't vibrate at speed either which is a plus.

A few of the electrics are a bit dodgy, central locking button on the dash doesn't work and nor does the hazard light switch or the climate control screen, but the panel itself does seem to work.

Like I said, first off I just want to give it a good clean, that way I can see what I've got to work with I suppose.

(If anyone happens to want an NF........)

Well the NF is long gone and I am left with an EF with a cranky auto box.. if anyone can offer any ideas I'd be very grateful. The story is as follows:

On Christmas Day I had to go to the airport and unfortunately drove through some pretty deep puddles. The car didn't seem to mind but 3 days later the transmission went into Limp Home Mode. I let it sit for awhile and restarted it and it seemed okay, but five minutes later it was limping again, and then lost all forward drive. Got it towed home and it sat for 5 days over New Years because no one was open. Took it to a transmission place last Tuesday, they later told me they couldn't find any codes/anything else wrong with it, they just cleaned up all the wiring connectors on the transmission and it worked fine. Their answer was that it got wet, but once dried it was fine. There was no evidence of water in the fluid.

Great, or so I thought. It was fine for 5 days (and about 500km) but on Sunday I got LHM again and this time the speedo dropped out, then flickered around like crazy until I pulled over. Left it for 15 minutes, drove it home and it's been fine since then. Obviously though there's something wrong, am I right in saying there's a speed sensor or something attached to the transmission and that's what's playing up?

As I said, any input would be appreciated before I take it back to the auto place tomorrow.
Thanks guys.

Hey all, just a quick update... I may have just gone out and bought myself a new car.

G6E.jpg

I have only one crappy photo from Carsales, but it's a 2009 G6E in Velvet Black with the 19" Turbo wheels, Turbo rear lip spoiler, sunroof, Sat-Nav...etc. It's gorgeous and I pretty much fell in love with it as soon as I went to check it out. I don't get it til the 23rd, but that means it'll be here in time for AFD at least.

Will of course update with more photos once I pick it up.

Thanks B Bear :) I'm pretty stoked. Aso I've just had a read through your build thread, loving the Sapphire! It looks like you've done a really good job with it, and I'm looking forward to seeing/reading about the turbo when it all comes together!
