Thanks B Bear :) I'm pretty stoked. Aso I've just had a read through your build thread, loving the Sapphire! It looks like you've done a really good job with it, and I'm looking forward to seeing/reading about the turbo when it all comes together!

Cheers mate :D It's getting there, should hopefully have it done within a month.

Alright so here's a bit more on the G6E... I picked it up yesterday morning and am absolutely loving it so far. Completely different to the EF (as to be expected), such a nice car to drive and holy balls it's got some power

And it just looks stunning... I love the colour and how it looks different in different light. I did want black, but this is almost better I reckon.

At just under 56k it's basically brand new compared to the EF which is on 264k..

I'm loving the sunroof and the leather, although in the heat it gets a bit sweaty :|

Not really sure what to do in terms of making changes, it's a great car as it is, although I'd love to upgrade the speakers. The "Premium Sound" isn't nearly as good as the fairly low-end setup I've got in the EF, but it will do for now. Suffice to say I'm looking forward to AFD!

Nice score mate, and welcome to the FG community ;)

Sound systems in the FG's are quite horrible, to say the least. Can barely turn the sound up at all without distortion. But you are right with the fact they have a bit of power.

Thankyou! Haha yeah it's a bit of a disappointment, I haven't really looked into changing the speakers or anything. But aside from that it's a fantastic car :)

I just said it before, but I'll say it again, that car, is one sexy beast!!

It's so shiny, and classy *jaw drops*

wolfiekun, would you be able to do me a favour? Would you be able to measure the ride height of your G6E? So measure the space between the wheel and car if you could please? I need to lower my car and get some idea of how low I should go, and your ride height looks pretty good.

Thanks,
Dean

No worries! The space between the guard and the tyre (the sidewall, not the top of the tread) is about 4cm, and that's front and rear.
Just to give you an idea, the bottom of the front bumper is 17cm off the ground, but the scuff plate/plastic guard bit underneath is only 12cm off the ground.

Hope that helps :) the previous owner had it lowered by Pedders, but I don't know what springs/shocks were used. I do believe it's around about the stock XR6 height though.

If there's anything else I can do, let me know!

Jesse

I'm quite happy with the height of it myself, it's low enough that it looks good but it's still perfectly practical for speed bumps/unmade roads etc. It's roughly about the same height as my EF, which only scraped on steep driveways and really tall speed bumps.

Yeah it seems like a good balance!

I've got this pretty tall speed hump in my street, hoping my car will be able to get over it without scraping once it's lowered!

Ah yeah, they're so annoying sometimes lol. I've got a friend in Point Cook and I went to see him a few weeks back and there are some god awful speed bumps around there, I misjudged one and scraped baaaaaaad.

Shiiiit, that would have sucked! I remember when I first got my car, I brought it to a place in Greensborough for a road worthy certificate, and the hills there are pretty s**t. Anyway, driving along, stock standard rims and height, next minute, I'm scraping at the bottom of a hill just after some traffic lights!! HOW? hahaha

Anyway, what plans do you have for your G6E? Tbh, looks pretty complete to me!

Also wondering if I would have to take off my mudflaps if I lowered my car to your height :\

Yeah I wasn't too happy :x but I've learnt now, haha. It's funny how those things happen, they don't seem to design roads with lowered cars in mind unfortunately!

To be honest I'm still working on what to do with it, I don't feel the need to constantly change little things like I did in the Fairmont - everything is pretty much as I wanted.

Except the stereo. I hate the fact that a top of the line car has such a god awful sound system. So I do want to replace the speakers and the factory sub, just with some inexpensive stuff though, all I want is some decent clean sound with a little more bass.

Apart from that... I don't really know. All the hard work has been done for me already! Lol. I took the mudflaps off my EF when I lowered it, but the G6E didn't have them at all (that I know of).

Speaking of the EF..... just a little update! I decided to paint the dash surround in black, which I've been wanting to do for ages but never did. I still need to do the lower part that goes around the transmission surround, but for a quick, lazy job it actually turned out alright!

Hey Deano! Not much new is happening at the moment, money is not on my side haha. I'm looking into new speakers, I think that's gonna be my focus for now..and after that, who knows lol. Oh by the way, just about to reply to your post about the interior lights :)
