yeah stainless rods. otherwise it wont turn out so good, mild and stainless will still weld though. also might pay to get a few bits of scrap that you can cut up and practice on. you dont want ya dump pipe to turn out s**t.

With the flange you could use mild but still use stainless rods if you choose stainless pipe.

yeh the dumpy flange came with the turbo kit so thats already made, i think the flange is mild steel, ill have a look around at metal places and see how much stainless is, id rather stainless but its the dumpipe so exhaust fumes will be goin through it so i may aswell use mild steel

I havnt decided what I'm goin to use to weld up the dumpipe! Mig or stick welder, If I go stick I'll have to use thicker pipe..

MIG will be easier. it'll save you blowing holes.

mig would be best but i have welded up exhausts with a 30 year old arc welder no probs, just take you time, minimal heat and as small as electrode as possable, i used a 2.6 and if your using stick get electrodes with EXX11 there a nice flowing type called celulose so should be able to do it.
doesnt matter what numbers the XX is but the higher the number the higher the tensile strengh
but like i said mig would be best.

I have a mig welder at work so I'll use that !
Can a mig welder weld stainless steel to mild steel ?
