Mine is being a bit of a pain... My mechanic is overly confident with working on it... Can you suggest anyone? Plus is the filter something I can check/clean/inspect myself with not too much worry?
Its idling with a quiet misfire every 2-3seconds plus doesn't like going over 3500/4000-ish revs suddenly sorta thing.

What filter? I'd be changing the fuel filter, and checking plugs myself. The only mechanic in the Brisbane area I trust is James at BPS Chiptek - Cleveland. It should be a simple fix anyway mate.

James is the guy who will be doing all my tuning when my NC gets turbo'd, and when the ute gets it's next round of upgrades. He prides himself on all his work, and does some awesome cars!

Don't rule out leads and that yet, even new ones can be duds!

O and there is a filter on the front of the VCT unit to filter the oil.

I'll have a look at the VCT motor tomorrow and see what I can ID. I'll let you know.

I'll give the leads/plugs/coil a check, but we did find a fault with the coolant temp sensor. It would read a normal 90 degrees, then randomly peak to sometimes less then 15 degrees at 30 sec-5 min intervals... Though we aren't sure if it's the sensor or the ecu damaged... Cause I also have had an issue with water leaking into the footwells... Still can't find where it's coming through though. Quite annoying...

O btw, on a completely different topic... Do you know of any ford/car meets around here coming up? I've been looking at the events/cruise part on here but it seems a little dead...

I'm not too sure about any meets in the near future. I do know what the cause of water leaking into the footwell is though. Under the plastics at the back of the bonnet, there are some spotwelds that fail. Silicone over them stops the leaking.

Champ, while the car is still wet I'll check it out to see if it's there... Hopefully it is and I can finally fix this problem... Cheers

My old AU XR8 had the same problem, and so does the ute. I really have to fix the ute though. Next time it gets an engine swap.....

Yeah well it's an expensive little adventure not to. It lead to rusting out of my pedal frame as well as this computer issue. So hopefully I can get on top if it now...

What engine are you getting? O and from curiosity, not sure if you would know, but can an AUII XR8 motor go infront the xr6 engine bay without too much fuss?
