It's a slow process, my brother is off with work for 5 months from the 10th, so I'm hoping to have it together when he gets back, or shortly after.

A majority of it I will be doing. It's a fairly straight forward conversion until it comes to intake and wiring.

Fair enough, sounds like the go... Will have to keep an eye out for when it's ready.
Dads been talking about putting an xr6t motor in my old black ute... ;) just want him to hurry up and get it done already :) then we'll reunite the utes for some fun lol

Yea, an XR6T motor was the plan for the Ute, then the 5L came up at a very good price.

Hmm just a quick quick question, but turbo the AU motor or swap to ba/bf/fg motor? In terms of ease, money/power/reliability, rough answer taking everything into consideration. Also, the utes in the middle of no where, so experienced mechanics in that field pretty much don't exist...

An XR6T driveline will be the most reliable, and probably The cheapest setup to do right too.

Anyone played with wiring in an Aftermarket ECU, or it is something I'm best off leaving to the tuner to sort? This needs to be a reliable setup, and obviously, spending the cash if needed isn't an issue, but saving cash where possible would be nice. Especially when it's a $30k engine, and a $50k build.

you could probably wire it in yourself but i prefeer to leave electronics alone, can't stand the f**k things

So, this is what a 600 flywheel Horsepower Naturally Aspirated 4.9L (300ci) Quad Cam Modular Ford V8 looks like:

Now, I've had quite a few people cast doubt over the legitimacy of the figures, If you pay attemtion to the background, you will notice the plates of the car the engine has come from. Some minor research will show, this combo is genuine, and means business!

Well, this engine is currently sitting in the back of a truck on its way to Brisbane. Got delivered to the transport company today, so I should have it in my hands mid to late next week.

Well, A gearbox has been located. I've got an FG GT 335 TR6060 coming from Melbourne, so hopefully with a light weight, unsprung 6 puck clutch, thish should be able to shift smootly at 8500rpm, making for one HELL of a ride.

Expenditure so far -
5.0L Alloy Block Modular, with all accessories bar aircon - $10500 + $366 shipping
New FG Miami TR6060 - $1800 + Shipping.
This is painful! Thankfully, it's not my wallet copping the hit!

If you don't mind my asking, who did you get the 6060 from in melbourne and do they have more? that's a good price!

Unfortunately, they only had one. It's not brand new, but it has 1500km on it. I've got the guy I sourced the engine off looking for another TR6060, which if he can locate one will be about $2500 for a brand new one if he can find one.

yeah.. T56's in Perth are common and cheap if you have a holden.. You got a great bargain.

a T56 for an xr6T is about 2.5k with around 50k on it... that is kinda a last resort for me as I'd then need to get a decent clutch and the rest of the manual conversion for it.. would get very pricey.

Wish there was a cheapish kit that allowed you to use an LS1 T56.. there seem to be lots of them for sale in WA cheap.
