{USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: door moulds look good, much better than the factory ef ones i definately have an aerial switch here, got the loom with a few inches of wires too. dont u have the aerial switch already factory fitted? am just rubbing the front bar vents now ready to paint I knew the moulds would change it, but it made a bigger difference than I thought it would. Very happy. Let me know when the s**t is ready, switch sounds great. I have a bench seat economy switch in there instead for the corner lights, dont know where the f**k the aerial switch went and the plug is f**k so I'll grab that one off you. I want the aerial s**t back to normal, I had it wired to go full up all the time, but it went up and down constantly with the headlights on, so going to make it original and rip out the ugly corner lights (and wiring) and go from there. Thanks heaps fellas Love what you've done with everything, bar the rims (IMO FTR's would have suit it better) Also, could you go through what you did with the dash spear? I too want to get it to match the woodgrain of the doors! Cheers.

I have an original dash spear in it again, as the wooden one had a leg broken off and wouldn't sit right no matter how much double sided tape and silicon I used. I'm not sure what you mean though?
To change it, get a very thin flat head behind and gently pop it out. New one will just clip in. It didn't match the woodgrain on my doors, as I have the series 1 wood. Later cars came with plastic wood, is darker in colour. As for the rims, I regret not getting FTR's. If I keep the car, it will get a few more goodies including a new set of rims. Thanks for the comments. BTW the car looks different now too.... |

Personally i reckon those CSA rims are nice, always had a soft spot for them in 17's until i found out how prone they are to cracking spokes |

I'll get some pics tomorrow, my missus took the fairmont today. So I'm left with the AU XR6 VCT.
Some champagne Concordes or EL GTs would look nice with the white I think. I'm over the CSA's... |

Sorry maybe i wasnt clear; Where did you get the spear from/what is it/is it a sticker pack woodgrain? Is it from a NF/NL fairlane?

I'm very over the partial leather trim, the ugly wood, and the fact that the car is only a series 1 and missed the good bits.
If anyone has a nice Ford in SA and is interested in swaps, PM me. Otherwise, I'm going to change the seats to normal Fairmont velour, rid the car of the Ghia badging and then I will have a Fairmont with Lots of little Ghia extras. Probably a bit odd, but easier than changing cars. I'm just really over it ATM. |

Mate, i kind of understand how you feel.. Im starting to get over LTD woodgrain i have grown to love ever since i saw it. Was thinking of doing all the woodgrain trims in piano black to be different, but i still don't have the guts to do it

The Piano Black idea I have had for a while, would never have the guts to do it though. DO IT!

It is pretty damn ugly I agree haha (give them to meeee!!)

Here is the latest on the fairmont, for KWIKXR. I've added the new style Ghia badges, put the original moulds back on until I find the bumper ones to match, and polished the lips on the wheels. Not long ago I replaced the headlights too. I need to lower the back more, I may take out the spring insulators and see what happens. New wheels and springs are also on the cards soonish, along with different numberplates. I'm going to try to find a polishing attachment for the drill so I can do the wheels more.
![]() ![]() ![]() This is just to show everybody the EF Ghia optional Leather/Velour trim. S1 had this standard and full leather optional, S2 was the opposite. They did the same with the EL Ghia too, didn't look right with the trim pattern in them though.

That is one clean looking Fairmont
What rims do you plan on getting? For reason i think i remember you mentioning FTR's? |

I would swap these wheels for FTR's, or a set of Concordes.
I'm thinking maybe Apec Apaches in black, or ANZ Tycoons. I'd like to go with black wheels with a chrome/polished lip. I'm liking the EF Side moulds at the moment, has a clean original look. I want to put the clear repeaters on but they look retarded with the EF Moulds. Today I pulled the towbar tongue off, and moved the towbar plug to the boot, looks better too. Really need to get some mesh and make a replica FBT grille too, should look awesome with that, and the chrome moulds. |

I'm on the gold coast on holiday at the moment. Should be taking FordFairmonts concordes home with me too. There are some nice cars up here, a yard nearby has a very mint looking Regency red EL XR for $4k.
Before I left, I picked up a shallow mount 8" Pioneer free air sub, and mounted it to the shelf using an MDF spacer, some nuts and bolts and rubber washers. What else can I do to stop it rattling the shelf? Sounds like crap. The stock 5x7's in our AU XR6 sound better, can manage some bass reproduction and produce no rattling... Also got some 6.5" Alpine Type R Coaxials. Tips on getting them into the front doors? Then the Pioneer Coaxials in the doors can go into the shelf. I think I'd also like to get some EF Mont velour seats for it. The 50/50 trim is so ugly, and the back seat leather is starting to go a bit hard, and looks s**t. I'll badge the car as a regular Fairmont. It sucks having the S1 and missing out on the extra bits. In other news, my neighbours kindly enlarged a dent on the rear drivers door, so now that looks s**t too. |

I fitted a pair of JVC'c to my front which were badged as 6"-6.5" and they went straight in.
