Hi,

I have a 95 EF, it has a 96 EF XR6 engine in it.

Now the car is great, but there a few minor things that I'm concerned with.

1.) seems to be a ticking noise coming from where the fuel rail/injectors are. Ideas? Its about 8 or so ticks per second, not very loud but when you open the hood you can definitely tell its there.

2.) a whirl/whistle sound coming from the power steering area.

Any help diagnosing the probem would be great

ticking noise - normal injector pulse sound

whirring sound - just the power steering pump. might be getting a bit tired if the noise is loudish.

This is the injectors working. If there was no ticking, the car would not be going. It is normal.

Most of the Pwr Steer pumps at this age have a bit of a whine. If it isn't leaking, ignore it. Or go and get a new one fitted.

thanks for the quick replies,

reason it worries me is i bought the car on saturday, took it for a drive etc and didnt really notice it until today (tues) - was the first time i took it for a long propper drive and sussed everything out.

its a good car but yeh.. just checking.

12 months rego, xr6 engine (95 futura manual ECU), xr6 suspension, pacemakers, cat, cat back, 6 stacker, nice paint in mauritius blue and all straight, clean engine, LSD... bought for 3k, thought it was a good deal.

going on gas (impco - 2395$ and 2k back) on tues

next step is a cam.. leaning toward a CMS stage 2 because they're local and guaranteed it runs well on gas but also considering camtech and Wade. Then some rims, unsure of what type, and the windows tinted then i'll tackle the suspension - ideally koni shocks, unsure of springs, front and rear sway bars.

Thanks for welcoming me to the forums its great to be around likeminded people and great for answers and directions.

All the best!!!

Not a problem.

Check out the NSW/ACT Cruise thread.

We meet once a week at Liverpool, if you want to come and say hi.

Cheers
BenJ
