491.1km, 58.88L. 11.98L/100km. You still don't think driving style is the cause of your fuel usage then your wrong.

Nah I get it, the quicker I get up to constant speed the less fuel I will use. Without flooring it of course.

ok three things
Quote:
yeah, so 68L divided by 400k's times 100 = 17L per 100km

your telling me when you fill up you have a 100% empty tank?!?!?!? do you know how bad it is to run your car dry.

secondly as for the thermostat
Quote:
ok tell me if urs is the same, when my car heats up whilst driving the temp guage sits inbetween 1 quatar line and half way, never goes past half way when sitting at lights,, most it goes is like 4millameters under half way mark...on cold nights it sits on 1 quater line...whilst driving...

from what you just said that sounds like its running to cold (compared to my engine with a stock thermostat)
mine sits just (about 1-2mm) before the half way point, and that's measuring at the top of the needle to the top of the mark for half way. put your old thermostat back in, then for the next 2 weeks, record the amount for fuel your filling up with (ACTUAL fuel going into the car, DO NOT GO BY THE RANGE LEFT) and how many km's you've traveled since that top up. make sure you right down the numbers we want accuracy hear.

thirdly, how are you driving, are you driving like a lead foot? are you in bumper to bumper traffic? are your trips short (under 5kms)? are you doing highway driving?

No I don't do highway driving, more short drives or lil cruises, I ain't changing thermo, even the guy from auto 1 suggested it , I'll due a fuel test this weekend with the ford cruise to wiseman ferry, no I fill up usually around a quarter tank which gives me 100 ks

ok well just so you know when your engine is cold it uses more fuel, this is why lots of little short stops (<5km's) will result a high L/100, because your engine isen't reaching normal operating temp. don't take the word of guys at Auto 1 as the bible, ive learnt so much from people on this forum, and i am constantly finding errors in what people from auto stores say about falcon.

also if your fuel gauge is saying 1/4 of a tank used this doesn't mean that 17L (1/4 of 68) of fuel has been used, most cars have the fuel gauges purposely out by a couple of L's. the amount of fuel you put into the car is the only real way of checking to see how much fuel you've used.

My BA used to get s**t Fuel consumption... i drove peak hour most of the time, and loved to give the right pedal a push. The fact is, they are a heavy car, and if you are stopping and starting regularly, its going to consume fuel.

My FG Turbo however, is averaging 13.7L/100 for the same driving over the life of the car (Nearly 15,000km's) and i quite enjoy hitting boost...
