Which models are you looking at? Why only those two brands? I'd pick Alpine and Pioneer over both of those.

Personally I'd avoid Sony like the plague when it comes to car audio.
Pioneer, kenwood, Clarion and JVC are the mainstream brands I would stick to.

To critique the rest of the system; It's seems like you are going to be putting in way to many items.
I would ditch the whole idea and go with a good set of splits ($200-$300) for the front and a decent sub (10" or 12") either powered from one 4ch amp, or a 2ch and a monoblock.

the car is a XG ute i have 2 speakers in the factory locations in the dash, and 2 up behind the head rests running off the head unit (all 4 speakers are 4 inch) then 2 6 inch fusions running off the amp it goes good for what i want and im happy with it.

Sorry I read your first post as though you didnt have any gear in it yet.

How are the rest of the speakers mounted?

I used to have an XF, I made some door pods to fit my 5.25" splits. I then discoverd the window winder wouldnt work so I bougth elec windows for it. Then I fitted the tweeter in the old winder hole.
I has these and a jaycar 10" sub running off a kenwood 4x50w amp, I had many comments from people about it, and even had people that didnt believe that there were no rear speakers in it.

up the back they have 2 screws to hold them down so they dont jump around when i go around a corner, your old setup sounds pretty cool where did you have the sub mounted?
