Wow, there's a lot more interest than I had expected. At this stage the price looks like it will be $100/pair, but I'm hoping I might be able to bring that down a little. I should be able to start actually playing with these in the next few weeks and see if a good finish is achievable. I'll keep this updated as I progress. |

It doesn't bother me either way. I was just looking st doing a hid conversion but wanted to keep the originals. But I can get some at the wreckers if it is too mush of a hassle. |

Oh. I thought you meant a complete modded headlight including HID projectors fitted.
It would probably be easier for you to get a second hand set rather than me try to source them as well. |

would the new material be more heat resistant than the original plastic?
does it yellow? im not to sure about this stuff, but at such a cheepish cost i would get them anyway. |

The new material is basically going to be the same as what headlight protectors are made from. If you're asking about heat in regard to running hotter bulbs, the problem doesnt lie with the lenses, its the reflectors that get damaged by the heat. Otherwise, they will be equally as good as standard. Something I've realised is that the lenses will need to be attached with a different adhesive as the standard set up uses clips to hold the lens in place, I think if you were to use the sealant only they would probably fall off on a hot summers day. I've found another sealant that will work but it will add a little to the cost to supply it with the lenses. You could use silicone but some release fumes when they cure and that could fog the lenses on the inside. |
