Quick question; On a standard EB2 GLi, is the factory roof dome light able to be replaced with the Fairmont dome light with the in built twin map lights? If so, does this require any modification?

Yes. I'm pretty sure it's a direct swap. IIRC it's just a case of cutting and rejoining wires. I know one member has done it to an ED GLi.

I prefer the NF/NL dome light though. I put one in my EA and it's so much nicer than the Fairmont one.

It is not a direct swap. The wiring loom in the roof is different to allow for the Map lights to work.

Have a look at the plugs, and you should note there are extra wires on the Fairy one.

Pretty sure, you can cut and solder the wires...unless you aren't up for that. Don't know about about the plug differences. It may be easier to just modify it instead of replacing the loom!

Hi there i got a ef fairmont II and the interior light comes with the map lights and i just bought the one from the NF fairlane couse yea it does look so much nicer, but it did my head in until i figured out the wiring to it,i blown 5 fuses   i thought it would of been a strait swap but no,the interior light from the nf nl fairlane if you pull it apart you will see that its earth'd all around, what i did was wired up just 1 wire the yellow its a stripe one,and duct taped the other 2 wires. its got 2 yellow with a stripe doesnt matter witch 1 you use, i drilled 1 extra hole were its just on the plastic part, screwed that one in the roof and the 1 for earth i used the one were it looks that theres a broken piece and thats it.Good luck with it.
