So, yesterday the missus and I went down the coast to Gerringong for the night. We were hoping that the weather would clear up on the way. No such luck. It's still bloody raining.
We stayed at the same caravan park that we stayed at earlier this year. Due to a transaction error or something, we had a $20 credit. As a result, accommodation was $5 for the night. When we arrived, we realised that we had forgotten a few things. Minor things, like, you know, sheets, pillows, table... Ended up getting some sheets and pillows from the local Woolworths, though. Still raining.... This trip we decided to test out the trailer as a tent to be used on short one night stays. It worked well, except for the fact the air mattress deflated itself and the rain being about 100dB on the canvas. Ended up getting up at 04:30 to roll the trailer under the tarp. Got up about 6 am, had some bacon sandwiches and got the hell out of there as soon as reception opened. Trip back was pretty relaxed. <Insert comment on fuel economy> Did 380km on 2/3 tank.(too tired). Couple of things I forgot about.
1) Kinda killed a bird on the way down. It was picking some thing off the road, went to fly away and for some reason decided to have another go at what was on the road. Bad move. Ended up stuck in the bumper. 2) I think the box may be slipping in 3rd. Under 3/4 throttle over 3,000 RPM bit of vibration. 3) And finally, front rotors are warped. I'm debating whether to get them machined or to use the opportunity to upgrade to slotted ones. That's what's good about manual 'boxes. Don't need to use the brake as much. In my pulsar, on the highway at least, only time I would use the brakes was about 25m from the light. Slow down through the gears.

Manual conversion and slotted rotors?
 About the box only thing I can think of is it may need oil? However I'm pretty sure you got it serviced not too long ago? They do go well on the highway with a trailer attached, mine gets roughly the same towing my bike upto mudgee or goulburn wherever I go. Anyway good luck with the box ev, hope you get it sorted.

Went round to BenJ's on Sunday to drop off some mirrors for SWC. Checked out his progress with the DOHC conversion. Very, very impressive. BenJ said he might have an XH snorkel for me. I was told before at. The tyre shop that bob jane tyres are actually made by kumho. THe Bob Jane all rounder is actually Made by Bridgestone Has been for approx 7 years now before that they were made by Dunlop. The Zetum tyre exclusive to Bob Jane outlets is made by kumho as its their old moulds |

So, yesterday I decided to stop this from happening:
 I visited my local Repco and purchased a new top rad hose and a couple of clamps to suit. Supercheap Auto is right next door to Repco, so I picked up another drain pan to catch all my coolant without risk of contamination by oil. In the past, I have used one pan for coolant only and one for coolant and oil. Very carefully cleaned out of course. Anyway, it's quite interesting the difference between the two stores. Repco was very helpful and actually acknowledged my presence, whereas at Supercheap the only thing the cashier said was " $8.69, please." But I digress. This morning got up, the sun was shining and I thought that I could trust the weather today. Drained the coolant and pulled off the old hose. Old vs New:  Spend a bit of time with the scraper and wire brush to get rid of all the coolant residue. Chopped off the end of the air bleed hose, to prevent leaks. Installed the new hose and did up the lovely new clamps.  Then **BANG CRASH THUNDER!!**. Uh oh... The biggest downpour you ever saw. That may be a slight exaggeration... Finished off filling the car back with coolant while I got about as wet as my thermostat .The things I do... Lots of fun though. Thanks, Evan.

A turbo?
I keep dropping my coolant in the garden, the weeds love it. I think I'll get a second drain pan too. Good idea.

BINGO!! The grand prize of OVER 9000!!!! internetz goes to Lukeee! I am picking it up this weekend. While I'm waiting I will be studying Voxace's guide and the manual conversion thread. I feel that if I do my research, it should not be that difficult. I am just a little bit apprehensive about pulling the dash and swapping the pedal box.
