well i been told that im a nutter, buying cars at the rate that i do, which is a car nearly every 2 months.. but since the departure of my beloved MY96EL, i been getting a lil bit sick of trying to organize the bigger mods like dropping 8cyl into my EL ghia and attaching a blower and finishing it with a manual box..
so i decided take a lil trip down memory lane, where your on ya Ls plates, looking for first car and hoping that you pass the test for red Ps.

ive gone an bought an EF wagon, Gun metal, auto, needs a lil work
now the guy tells me theres a lil water in the motor, hmmm, well i say nup, we wana know that were gonna make it to the shops haha, first thing on the list is yank that thing outa there, and drop in my 98el 120,000km prime motor ( that know one seems to want for good price )

once thats done, its time for a bath, get that paint work all nice and clean ready for some polish.

ok, next on the hit list, roof linning, common in lots of cars, so ill be pulling this out and more then likely off to the trimmers and ill get it done in black, now why black, well i dunno, i just think its easy in black, wont show dirt etc, and also adds a nice change to the standed EF roof.

4th for the progress list, front seat, yep she seen better days, well out with the old, in with the new, ill install the EL fairmont velour seats i took back out of MY96EL. add some comfort and class.

since all that is going on, and the car will be looking nice on the outside, in the engine bay, and on the interior, i will have to have some audio to compliment all this, head deck, front speakers, rear speakers, amps, and possible 2 12" subs just to add a bit of punch to the system.

now why stop there on the interior, 6th step planned, is to add some EL door trims, just make it a lil bit more "modified" but more that i like the el door trims for the front pocket.

considering that there is a bit of EL going into this EF, i thought, dont stop now, the plan is, EL Head lights, El bonnet, and EL front bar.....WHY??? cause i got all the parts there for sale so i mose well use em on this project. right?

well going to 8th step of this P plated "modded" build of a EF wagon, is WHEELS...im hoping to buy a set of 17 BA XR fakes off a mate, pre-au of course so there's no troubles with the law.
and also bring the ride height down a lil bit to compliment them wheels.

and that pretty much sums it up for this moment.
as i said, its a P plate car haha
ill get some pics up as soon as i can. bit hard with my mobile being in 8 pieces on the shed floor
hoping that this lil build turns out nice at end of it all even tho its not major stuff.

We demand pics LOL

Sounds like a good feasible and constructive plan.

For lowering the back, you should try the method outlined here:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=80226

...by mustang6, I'm going t try that in my wagon. At the moment I have 1 1/2" lowering blocks in there from Pedders.

Cheers

yeh that post is interesting. i was just gona buy blocks, im looking for the most legal way, i been told you can reset the leafs, and best palce to do it is go to a truck workshop and say you wana lower leaf springs and theyll go from there with wat eva....not sure on how true that is but worth looking into if its more safe and legal.

I would give the method in that thread a go first - it's free :) Plus it would look more legal for a P plater than blocks....

Blocks aren't legal man. The mechanic who checks mine tells me every time and I keep telling him I had them engineered. Thats what I say anyway.

I just had a read too. I hadn't heard that way before, I think I'll go with that method. I was thinking of removing the blocks anyway to avoid any further unnecessary attention. The ones I got a are anodised blue and standout like dogs balls. And if it removes diff tramp, then that has to be a bonus.

hit a brick wall on satday :(
got the motor out, went ot swap the coil pack setup, and the wiring is completely different.
unsure of what to do now...............
1)i can get another motor, EF 94 motor so the wiring doesnt change an dont have swap to coil pack setup.

2)or sell the car....dont really want to, would really like to see it up and running on the road as the rest of the car is almost mint condition. paint is good, interior is good except for the front seat an hoodLinning, but hoodLining is out ready to be trimmed.

3)change all the wiring etc to make it so the motor will work, dont really want to as i dont know how, dont have the time an specially dont have enough patience.

anyone got or know of a EF motor for sale?
if i cant find a motor then ill more then likly put up for sale

The only wiring difference is the BBM Loom. Just take the loom off your EF motor, and swap it on to the EL motor. You will also have to swap over the harmonic balancer and the crank angle sensor etc.

It is quite simple really.

Swap the coil packs etc over to the EL engine - remove the dizzy etc - and use the wiring from the EF engine. That should get you going without too many dramas!
