So it's become a harsh reality that i cannot put my engine back together. Now that i have an income i really really want to get back to my car and put the engine and T5 in but........ For the life of me cannot remember what bolts go where.

All i want to do is put a serpentine belt set up on my ED engine,
and
Put the original belt set up back on another ED engine so i can sell it.

To make things more difficult nuts and bolts from 3 other motors have mixed in with the stuff from my car. I have all the parts i need and i know where they go but have no idea where to start with and what bolt goes where.

So till i figure it out or can get some help the weeds will grow over the car and my rebuilt bottom end will probably rust.

Regards.

Between my last little winge and now i came up with a little battle plan.

I have drawn 3 detailed pictures of the front right and left sides of the engine. I have numbered each bolt i need on the drawing from #1 to #31. Now what i have to do is get my hands on an engine with a complete belt set up and take out each bolt and number them accordingly. Not the fastest way but i will have the information for any later date if needed and i know ill get it right.

Regards.

Good to see you have not thrown the towel in mate.

Sounds like you should have enough bolts to do it 2 times over. So dont get discouraged you will get there in the end, and will have that satisfaction in knowing you built that engine your self.

Just go down to a pick a part style wreckers with your tools, camera, paper & pen, slowly dismantle an engine, pulling it down step by step, writing down what goes where & take pics. You will then be able to work it out. Grab a couple of little bits if you need to while your there.

This is the reason when i pull anything apart, i try to have a couple of bags of freezer bags on hand & a marker or paper & pen. Bolts for 1 item, eg sump, go into 1 bag, get label & tie it up. Then next part's bolts go into another bag, a label & tie it up. When it comes time to re-assemble, only open up one bag of bolts & bits at a time, sort that part & then move onto the next. :D

I also take lots of pics when pulling bits apart so i can see how it goes back together, and to show record of all the work i've done. I think i have about 3gb of pics @ 2mega pixel of stuff i've worked on for my car's over the last 5 years lol.

Glad to read that you have not given up, keep ya chin up, you will complete it & then be able to drive it & enjoy it!

Cheers

Haha the EB is lonnggg gone. I took the good bushes, interior and electric windows out. i did use some of those bags but they were buggered from the sun or heat as they stuck together and ripped when i separated most of them.

It's up to coast now, i traded it for an EL engine with a worked AU head and other belt set up parts, but it turned out to be worth scrap metal as the head was cracked and must have been put together by a moron as it was missing a timing chain guide and had no sump gasket.

I the only thing i got that i can use is was a serpentine belt tensioner which might turn out to squelch.... I was scared when i first saw this thing with steel toe work boots in way to tight hipster slacks and tight singlet with a pink star on it which disturbingly revealed it's gut and more crack then one could possibly stand.

I wouldn't trust this person as he is a weird and dodgy guy, they said they would post me the parts they hadn't yet organised after over a week then changed there mind and story many times and said they would pay me cash then stopped talking to me all together.

I wont say who the above person is cause ill probably get in trouble.

I do have a personal don't trade or sell person list thou.

Thats my rant

dont stress too much, i have b**ch about my fair share of people, the way i see it, if someone keeps you going for months on end and doesnt intend to follow through with a sals (of 4 sales rather) then i believe they should be named and shamed. we are a community here, and just like your neighbours you dont want someone dodgy living near you, i dont want these sort of people in our community... *end rant* atleast when i go to buy something and i dont have the cash in my bank i tell the people to accept an offer if they have cash just incase i cant get a hold of the cash in time, its only fair. *real end of rant*
