FFS... i took my car into the mechanics this morning to get the air con fixed, should have been $660 for a new compressor, lines and gas...

so call him this afternoon, "Hey Dave, the black ute... how'd it go?"
dave: "Ran into a few problems..."
me: "awwww f**k..."
dave: "the compressor got replaced, but everything else is wrecked... you will need a WHOLE NEW air conditioning system..."

so basically it resulted in a call to the rents, "hey mum can i borrow $1250 to get my car fixed..."

no christmas presents for me this year :s

though the only good thing that has come from this is that i also have a leak in the firewall somewhere, so while he has the dash out to get at the evaporater etc... he can try and check out where that water is coming from...

dont worry man, my car has been f**k around too! every 5 minutes its just cutting out and stalling. frustrating hey but atleast once its fixed you wont have to worry about it again and your air con will be ice cold!

yeah i hope so aye, i bought it for 9k-10k about a year ago and have spent more than that on the vehicle since... so far the only performance upgrade has been the exhuast system, which in reality it needed to be replaced anyway (had some serious chunks missing from the cat lol). so yeah, now i am told that the whole rear suspension assembly needs replacing... so yeah, the car should be bright yellow not black. but o well, still love that ute and dont want to get rid of it...

but yeah definately needed to get the ac fixed, i am going out to north-west queensland for the christmas break. so if i didnt, i would DIE! lol

air conditioning is a gip these days. I took my uterus into get it gassed up because it was working, but with 200thou on it and never being done I can understand why it's not as cold as it could be. Suddenly one look out the window and they guy knows everything about my car "oh yeah, AU is it ? (doesn't even know) Oh yeah they had problems with the orriface tube, you can't just re-gas, full service + testing + disposal of old gas fees + re-gas fee blah blah"

When I asked him about the bf mont it got even worse, even though there was nothing wrong with it in the first place lol

I thought they outlawed cfc based air con gas and replaced with R134 or whatever it is because it's safe for the environment ? How do they dispose of it ? if it's depleted there's nothing to dispose of and how do they measure it & do they bother ?

rant over.

You really need some pictures.

yeah i sorta stumbled a bit when i found out how much too parts, some hose and a bit of labour was for the ac system... but i dont really have a choice considering im going out home for the christmas break, i just wouldnt be able to do anything without it.

regarding the whole, "oh yeah, AU is it?" thing... so many times i've pulled in for a quote for differing things and people have said just that, and im sure they just think "hmmmm... +a couple of %".

well i dont see why the ef would be worse, the AU air conditioning system was made in the US whereas pretty much all other falcon ac systems were asian made (jap i think). apparently the US is not known for their air con's lol

hmm what do you want a picture of, the car more or less looks the same... just things on the inside have been changed. hopefully (yes i know i say that alot), i can get the rims off soon and paint them satin black... also getting rid of the sports bars... new exhaust tip (twin tip to be more specific)... hmmm... yeah not sure what else, after this air conditioning thing im on a very restricted budget... and also starting to notice signs of a flat battery (possibly might be time for a new-better alternator). so yeah...

thats sitting on super lows isnt it matt? looks good...

hmm... random question for someone out there. the unit (sun glasses holder) surrounding the map lights on the roof, can it be removed to just leave the map lights? btw, i realise i will need to get the roof re-lined but it needs it anyway.
