not asking how to fix this prob i kinda like it and mates think it make my car sound tuf. but when the engine is idling the exhaust has a burble to it as if it has a cam. the engine does not have a cam (well not that i know of) and no extractors, just redback 2.5 (cat back). a mate has an EL XR6 with redback 2.5 (cat back) extractors but no cam and his exhaust is nothing but a boring flat drone. a mate wanted to take my exhaust and stick it on his car to see if it made a difference to the sound but didnt bother because both the systems are the same.

So i was wanting to know some suggestions as to what could make my exhaust have a burble to it.

Cheers.

Could be a misfire, when mine was misfiring it sounded like a cammed 8 not just a stocker with exhaust.

Check plugs and leads.

Mine had a burble before I fitted the extractors and cat. After, it went away.

Your exhaust has more back pressure than your mates xr6 because your still running the tractor exhaust manifold and 2.25in cat. That's why it burble's more.

Cheers...

When I had just a catback it had more of a burble at idle, fitted extractors and 'custom' cat, it got deeper, but sort of lost the burble. Its hard to explain - but I like it more now. Louder + lower wins.

why worried? I'd say a P plater has driven this car before me. due to the after market sound system and the bent axles from the hectic drifting. so if i does have a cam would not surprise me.

When i had the catback it did sounds lumpier then what it did when i have the the extractors and the highflow cat added. When the car revs it sounds heaps better with the full system though
