OK, some time ago I posted up that I had sadly found a crack in one of my CSA Prowlers. A very sad occurance.
A few weeks ago, I acquired a replacement wheel. The rim is sound, but the clear coat is in bad shape. And close inspection of my other three rims also reveals that the clear coat on those is also lifting and flaking. With that in mind, I photoshopped a few paint options for the wheels. Standard ![]() Black Spokes with Black Inner Rim ![]() Black Spokes with Silver Inner Rim ![]() Black Spokes with Silver Star ![]() Silver Spokes with Black Star ![]() I liked the the Black Spokes with Silver Inner Rim option the most, so I grabbed the cracked rim, some masking tape and a rattle can of Engine Enamel Gloss Black I had laying around, and ended up with this. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I like this option as leaving the inner rim silver give appearance of a deeper dish rim. The spokes on the good rims will be painted in Black Pearl to match the body colour. I will be paint stripping the rims, and polishing the areas not being painted, before clear coating for some protection. Any gutter rash will be sanded smooth while I am at it. I hope to get this done over the next few weeks. I just have to sort out some alternative wheels with decent tyres for me to run around on. Cheers BenJ

not bad, i prefer the black spokes & black inner rim as most new wheels are painted that way
leaving the inner rim silver makes the rim look a little smaller like 16's |

My Prowlers are doing the same thing, clear has turned yellow and peeling off. I am thinking about stripping all the clear off, and polishing the entire wheel, then maybe re do the clear. Or leave them as is. Same issue, gotta get some other wheels to use in the mean time, as well as get some enthusiasm. At the moment i cbf, I will just drive it and worry about it later.
Might even wash the poor thing one day soon, It's nearly due for it's 6-monthly wash.

There is a lot of work if you want to swap in the complete dash loom, and gadgets, but it is very doable. The sedan rear seat back can be modified to fit the wagon. Cheers BenJ I have been informed that the rear doors on the wagon are different to the sedan. Is this the case? |

Really? That's cool. I thought the wagon had a slightly different roof line & the top of the doors were on a different angle?

no way are they close to fitting, the fronts are all identicle (apart from EA and EBI having 4" speaker holes.
the rears are a whole different kettle of fish. (not that i know anyone who keeps fish in a kettle) the reat doors from the window line down are the same so trims will fit, but the fixed glass section is different |

Wrong Mitchell.
The rear doors on a Sedan WILL NOT fit a Wagon or a Fairlane. The doors on the rear of the Fairlane and Wagon are however the same and will interchange. The door trims on the rear doors will fit any door. Cheers BenJ

So i was right in my thinking.
I found that out the hard way on a VK wagon. Door had been bashed in, so we tried to fit a sedan door. Couldn't fit it, and we couldn't get a wagon rear door either, so we cut the tops off & put the wagon top on a good sedan bottom & made one door out of the two. A real lot of screwing around, but it was only a bombadoor anyway. Cheers ToranaGuy
