I just thought the exact same thing right after i posted that, the grey does go with the moulds so painting the mudflaps white would make it look very much like a rally car.

Got any other plans for the exterior?

Well ive got a new hybrid engine a T5 which im putting into a freshly painted EB XR6 shell, but its in SA still

So anything i do will only be minor to mch time on my hands kinda mod.

If anything im looking into painting the B piller between the windows black and maybe even the C piller part on outside, so it all blends with the black windows, dont want to go over the top but. Would like just a black and white look thats why i got rid of the grey stripe.

Micahel

Hey everyone,

Didnt get the "custom" mudflap on as unplaned events took up my day. Did get to go to wreckers on way home but!

Picked up some things for my car as well as some things to sell so check out my for sale thread!

My eyes lit up and i got excited when i saw a EB 1 fairmont as i was sure it had some goodies.
From it i grabbed
- some boot trimings
- trip computer
- speed control unit
- main electric windows buttons but i soon left that behind when they wanted $80!!!
- electric mirror controls
- coolant sensor
- center console peice(see photos)
- sun visors with mirror covered in meterial same as roof

All so got a pretty clean coolant bottle with sensor to put in mine, current one is dirty and has no sensor. Ill soak this one in a bucket with some radiator cleaner for a while before i put it in, see how good it comes up.

I put in the boot trimings when i got home and it made the boot alot cleaner looking.

Today bit the bullet and just took off the mudflaps and left them off....

I was going to shorten them but the LHF was totally buggered. Both rears were cracked most the way throu were they had been flexing from reversing out the drive way.

Doesnt look so bad with them off so unless i can find some decent ones pretty much for free ill leave it as is.

Regards,

Michael

After much disscusion i have traded the fairmont i have for this list of parts:

Engine
EL hybrid block with AU internals fitted into a EL shaped sump
EL hybrid block, AU Series 3 head, AU XR cam, AU pistons, conrods,
bearings as the AU, slightly smaller crack journals

BBM conversion parts.
EL manifold (non polished)
EL fuel rail
EL Injectors
EL fuel regulator
EL accelerator cable
EL intake piping
EL dipstick tube
EL air-box
EL bbm vacuum release solenoid
EL top radiator hose
AU Upper and lower thermostat housing
BBM modded loom to suit ED
AU TB U-turn peice

Serpentine belt conversion.
EL belt tensioner
EL/AU P/S pump
AU alternator
EL/AU A/C compressior
EL/AU timing cover case
EL/AU h/balancer
EL/AU water pump

Other
EL THermo fan relay block
Manual gearbox to engine loom
Au intake snorkel
EL non xr6 Manual ecu code 6DAA

Not 100% but if i can get my hands on it then get it up to brisbane this engine will be going into a freshly painted White EB XR6 along with the T5, next step is to find a suitable diff as the 3:45 doesnt suit the EA T5... i think..

Do you guys think it would be best to find a manual el and use that interior and wiring looms?

Regards,

Michael

You're going to need your lower thermostat housing, it has the gauge sender.

What are you after pictures of mate?

I dont have the parts yet, everythings final just have to make the 2 hour trip when dads free so we can use his landcruise to tow the fairmont up and bring back the parts.

Other than that the parts look like they should.

But yes once progress is made pictures will be up.

Michael

An ED lower thermostat housing??

Im hoping ill have all the right parts.

Once ive got the car ill part it together with great excitment then see what i need.

Thinking of selling the EA with the T5 for around $400, the guy i got it from spend over $2000 on the gearbox and trying to get it roadworthy. T5 feels good but engine wont turn over it trys but could be seized? im no mechanic.

Michael

Guys after using the websites provided by FordFairmont who i thank, this is what i came up with.

The following information will only be help to some with the following:
EA T5 gearbox Ratios: XF-EB 6 Cyl 3.5, 2.14, 1.39, 1, 0.78
And Tire diameter in inches of 25.2" (215/60 15)

Image

RPM @ 100km/p give or take 5km/h

It was ALOT neater in notepad should be able to understand it but, 3.45 seems the best for me with good gearing but still only 2080rpm at 100km/h
