Got the HI-6 kit yesterday, look forward to putting that on. Also got the new leads, clips and IAT. Got pinged by customs yet again. The limit is $500, I was $43 over the limit so they charged me 15% GST on the whole $543. Waved goodbye to another $130 into thin air.

Next weeks arrival will be the fuel rails, reg, plugs, oil pan seal, rear main seal, Pertronix TFI module and some AN adapters.

I've also been wrestling with the hose clamp on the fuel pump locking ring. The thing is horribly positioned and I can't get a spanner, socket or screw driver to it. Might just have to carefully chisel the hose clamp off and get a new one.

Ohhhh... That slipped my mind. I got a bit upset about the thought of them lowering the threshold on us. Sorry

Yes, it used to be $1000 for us too. Plus only 12% GST. Now it's $500 and 15% GST plus they also charge a MAF import scan fee with GST on top of that, and also some other fee with gst on top of that. It's a right load of s**t.

We get royally f**k in the a** over here when it comes to anything to do with money.

More bits arrived today, Just need to sort out how I'm going to mount the FPR, run the lines and then order the fittings/hose.

Pretty much everything is here for the build now. Just need the harmonic balancer, water pump/timing cover and bolts. And of course the fuel line fittings etc

Can't wait until it's all in and looking even more sex!

I'm just tossing up whether to get a shop to put the cam/heads/valves in/on, or have dad do it. Shop would be quicker but not cheaper, but the bonus would be I could have the engine back in asap.

Downside would be hoping they didn't keep my good gaskets/bolts and replace with their stuff instead. I like knowing everything I have has been put into it correctly.

If you get your old man to do it, would you be there, giving a hand? If you are, then at least you get to see everything is done properly and know all your bits are used. I'm sure quality control would be a lot more stringent, as well. I wish I had the ability, or the mates I have now, when I had my kit installed. I had a workshop do it and they royally f**k it. I won't mention any names, though...

Yes I would definitely be there. Those are also my thoughts, we built my gearbo for the same reason, I wanted to make sure it was done right and used all the good parts. Neither of us had ever built a T5 before, but it was good fund and surprisingly easy.

Only downside is I will have to buy a cam dial-in wheel, as he doesn't have one of those.

I had a read over your thread a while back, and I must say it certainly does suck balls when you pay for a job to be done, but don't get what you pay for, let alone screw it up completely. A lot of people have the mentality that being a workshop means they do the job properly, although I'm finding more and more often this is the complete opposite.

Yeah man, I'm glad it all worked out how it did now, as it's what motivated me to learn how to tune and do as much as I can myself or with the help of friends.

That will be my next challenge Scaffy, learning how to tune. On a side note, how did you get your fuel rails to fit the TFS lower? Mine wouldn't fit, not a s**t show in hell. So I've had to spend a whole load on fuel rails and fittings.

Ordered all my fuel rail fittings tonight from Summit, thanks to Trent (XTT909) who drafted me up a more refined fuel system than I had created. Saved me a lot of money and also a lot of time/hassle.

Finally managed to trim these vids down. Just a couple of quick vids of the day I got my exhaust fitted.

This one here sounds the best although has bad camera angles: http://imageshack.us/clip/my-videos/148/1f5.mp4/

This one looks best but doesn't sound as good: http://imageshack.us/clip/my-videos/801/yui.mp4/

Kind of sucks how image shack crappify the sound as well. They sounded bloody good on my big speakers before I Uploaded them.
